The naming of wire and cable products adheres to the following principles:
Elements Included in the Product Name
The product's intended application or general product category;
The product's structural materials or type;
The product's key characteristics or additional features.
Generally, products are named according to the sequence listed above; however, to emphasize specific key or additional features, these features may occasionally be placed at the beginning of the name or immediately preceding the corresponding structural description.
Sequence of Structural Descriptions
The structural description of a product follows an "inside-out" sequence: Conductor → Insulation → Inner Sheath → Outer Sheath → Armor Type.
Simplification
In instances where doing so will not lead to confusion, certain structural descriptions may be omitted or abbreviated. For example, since the use of aluminum conductors is prohibited in automotive wiring and flexible cords, the conductor material is typically not specified in their product names.
